Short Waisted
Dress for your body
type
When you’re short waisted, you should wear clothing that elongates your
torso. Your goal is to visually lower your waistline and re-direct
attention towards your face or legs.
What To Wear:
- Go for mid length jackets and tops instead
- Choose princess line styles to elongate your mid section
- Wear a supportive bra to lift your breasts and define your
waistline
- Wear pants with a lower rise if you tuck in your top
- Choose panelled skirts with low slung waistlines and strong
vertical seams
- Longer length tops and knee length A-line dresses
- Choose matching rather than contrasting separates
- Wear belts below the waist, to lengthen the line of your
upper body
- Low-waisted pants, hipsters and low-slung skirts
- Vertical lines above the waist
- Narrow belts at the hipline
- Belts that match the color of your top
- Deep V necklines
- Jackets and tops that end below your natural waistline
What Not To Wear:
- Thick belts or contrasting colours in your mid section
- Crop jackets or long tunic styles
- Thick waist cinching belts over tunics
- Empire lines
- High-waisted pants or any high-waisted styles
- Belts at the waistline or above
- Horizontal lines at natural waistline or above
